Michelle Obama Rolls Out Young Readers Literary Series

Michelle Obama is rolling out a new series for young readers. Penguin Young Readers, Random House Children’s Books, and PBS Kids are all teaming up with the former First Lady to bring “Mondays With Michelle Obama” to your home.

In the six weeks series, the former First Lady will read popular children’s books and help support the Penguin Random House literacy initiative, “Read Together, Be Together,” as well as PBS’s “Read-Alongs,” which have aired on Youtube.

“As a little kid, I loved to read aloud," she wrote on the PBS website. "And when I became a parent, I found such joy in sharing the magic of storytelling with my own children--and then later, as First Lady, with kids everywhere. At this time when so many families are under so much stress, I’m excited to give kids a chance to practice their reading and hear some wonderful stories (and to give parents and caretakers a much-needed break!)”

Stay tuned for the May 25 reading at 12 p.m. ET of Oh, the Places You’ll Go by Dr. Suess with a special guest reading of Can I Be Your Dog? by Troy Cummings.
