It’s the type of magical fall moment you only dream would happen for Disney royalty: A tranquil fall day in the forest, a precious baby sleeps soundly on a bail of straw, when a friendly fawn comes along to say “hello!”
For Louisiana-based photographer, Megan Rion, this Disney-inspired fantasy became real life. On October 20, when Rion was shooting newborn photographs for the Rogers family at Sam Houston Jones State Park, a stunningly photogenic deer stumbled on set.
The result created an incredible photo-op any parent would adore owning.
“The mom of Conner was in awe,” Rion told Country Living magazine. “Awe at the deer, how she showed up so peacefully, awe at the way we posed her baby, and awe at the photographs were able to take, as they were a surprise for her husband.”
This isn’t the fawn's first time photobombing one of Rion’s shoots. The friendly woodland creature, named Maggie by locals and park rangers, is a fixture in a number of photos on the Imagine That Photography Facebook page—so much so that she has a whole album devoted to her fairytale moments.
So, was Maggie joining the photo session to snag a few minutes in the spotlight? Probably not, says Rion. Her and her assistant think the likely reason the deer joined them was the appetizing hay and corn they used to decorate the shoot.
Rion shared that Maggie seems to pop out of her hiding spot anytime she can share the spotlight with little kids—especially when snacks are involved. Whatever her reason, this little deer truly made a magical moment come to life.
