It's pretty common for expectant mothers to document their unborn child's growth with fruits and vegetables, but what about cute little animals?
Jennifer Dew--who has worked as an animal programs specialist at the Columbus Zoo for over eight years, did just that. The zookeeper and mom-to-be decided to pose for weekly maternity photos with animals in her care, in order to chronicle her baby's growth.
The zookeeper has a sentimental name in mind for her baby daughter--Gwendolyn "Winnie" Dew, who passed away last December.
"Nana was a huge support to me throughout my life and followed my career very closely," Dew told The Huffington Post. "She knew my favorite animals’ birthdays and would always come to my zoo programs."
She also added, "I think some of my love for animals came from her. The bushbaby was one of her favorites!"
Dew first came up with the creative idea because she had difficulty visualizing the fetus size comparisons with fruits. "So many fruits vary in size as individuals,” she told HuffPost. "I've seen small pomegranates and big pomegranates."
That's when the zookeeper, who is due in December, discovered an app that compares the size of unborn babies to "weird but cute animals."
Ever since then, Dew has graced Instagram with her adorable pregnancy photos--and we are completely obsessed!
Congratulations to the mom-to-be!
